July 16 – Teen Knife Skills, Samosas & Chutneys, 5:30-8:30pm
Many teens love to cook and are looking for hands-on ways to get more experience. We’re excited to offer an opportunity to do this in the Happy Girl Kitchen. During our three hours, we will have an opportunity to get a lot done AND have a great time together! The evening will start off with a tutorial on knife skills and how to safely chop and mince vegetables before participants get an opportunity to practice and then get to work. We will then move on to preparing a fun meal to share at the end of our time together, and because we can, we will make extra so everyone can take some home to share with their family. We will have to make the most of the time because it’ll be packed with fun and activity while we prepare a red lentil dal and fragrant basmati rice. While those are cooking, we will keep busy preparing samosa dough with various fillings along 2 types of chutneys.
This workshop is designed for young people ages 13-18 years of age, and will be led by Suzanne, chef at Happy Girl. We will be working together and independently, in a commercial kitchen. If there are any special dietary restrictions, please let us know in advance so that we can accommodate. We will be using all organic ingredients in our cooking, and as usual, as locally sourced as possible.
This is a unique and very fun experience, so make sure to register soon! The workshop will be held at from 5:30 – 8:30pm Happy Girl Kitchen located at 173 Central Avenue, Pacific Grove, CA 93950.
