In steps Golden Latte...
It is hard to say whether or not something is trending or has trended or is on the cusp. Often times we feel very isolated in our little Happy Girl world and perspective and do not really have a pulse on what is going on out there in the world. We get out a lot, but then again we do not get out much. But, I did notice the Golden Latte popping up in places around town and realized we needed to add it to our menu. It wasn't until I went to a Dripworks cafe with my friends from American Spoon and Justin ordered a Golden Latte that I felt the urgency to develop my own recipe and technique and add it to our menu.
Turmeric is well known as a medicine in Ayurveda. It has many beneficial properties with its most well known being an anti-inflammatory. In fact Turmeric has so many uses it is one of nature's most common medicines. Taking 1 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon per day is a wonderful dosage and that is just what you will get in the Golden Latte. It is a therapeutic alternative to coffee and feels great on your body and what better way to take your medicine than to drink it!
I created the recipe for our turmeric paste after many experiments. You make the paste with turmeric, black pepper and coconut oil to make the curcumin more available to digest. I added some ginger and cardamom to it and then some honey for sweetener to make it a perfect mix. I was happy to get the Golden Latte on our menu before my journey to India, the land of curry and turmeric. You can mix the past with any kind of milk or even in other culinary pursuits. Turmeric is also known to be an anti-depressant so come on into happy girl and drink your medicine!
